Team USA Wins Back-to-Back Gold at The World Games 2025
Team USA has once again reached the top of the inline hockey world, capturing the gold medal at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China. From August 7–11, eight of the best nations competed, but the United States stood tall, securing its fifth World Games title and a second straight championship following their 2022 victory in Birmingham.
The Road to Gold
In the gold medal final, the U.S. faced off against rival Czech Republic. With a thrilling performance, Team USA prevailed in overtime to defend their crown and cement their reputation as the sport’s most dominant program.
Leading the way was Kevin Mooney, who delivered a performance for the ages. He scored a hat trick in the final — one goal per period — and sealed the championship with the overtime winner. Mooney finished the tournament with 10 goals in 5 games, proving once again why he is one of the most dangerous scorers in the world.
Alongside him, Nicholas Dellamorte added 7 goals, consistently stepping up in big moments and giving Team USA the offensive depth needed to power through the competition.
Building on Legacy
This victory adds to Team USA’s already rich history at The World Games. Inline hockey has now been featured six times at the event, with the United States winning gold in five editions. The only exception came in 2017, when Czech Republic took the title.
By going back-to-back, Team USA not only secured another championship but also reaffirmed their position as the standard-bearer for international inline hockey.
A Defining Moment
The triumph in Chengdu will be remembered as a defining chapter in Team USA’s legacy. With proven veterans leading the charge and a program that continues to deliver on the world stage, the future of American inline hockey looks as strong as ever.
